Advantages of Laser Use in Dentistry

You have the opportunity to experience exciting technology in dentistry with the use of the diode soft tissue laser. You are able to relax and be comfortable while benefiting from the advantages of laser therapy. The soft tissue laser vaporizes gum tissue, small blood vessels or skin very efficiently and seals the nerve endings. Many applications require only the use of a topical anesthetic - no needle! Because the penetration is very small, there is minimal inflammation, no bleeding and there is usually little, if any, post-operative discomfort.

The laser can effectively disinfect those periodontally diseased areas that your hygienist may have informed you about (periodontal pockets), increasing the great results of deep scaling therapy. This is a quicker and better way than traditional procedures. Lasers are also fabulous in gently shaping the gums around the teeth where they may be uneven, or to "lengthen" the look of short teeth, relieving that "gummy smile" look. Perhaps most intriguing is their ability to "zap" away painful canker sores and cold sores. There are various other uses for the laser, to include biopsies and removing the frenum, the tissue attachment of the lip to the gums.
