American Academy of Cosmetic Dentisty's Advanced Accreditation Workshop

I recently joined about 30 cosmetic dentists from around the country at UCLA, to present treated cases for peer review with the potential to submit the cases for accreditation to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. First of all, I will tell you that there are some very talented dentists and laboratory technicians in this country. They exhibited some phenomenal dentistry with beautiful outomes for their patients. Let me tell you, when a slide is blown up on a 6'x8' screen, everything shows.
The principals of smile design were discussed at length, case after case, but I will tell you, that the most important topic discussed on every case was the health of the soft tissue, or gums. You see, matching the color of an adjacent tooth, or even the shape of the tooth don't matter so much when the gums are irritated, swollen or bleeding. Periodontal health is the foundation on which we can do our restorative and cosmetic dental magic. Denta Spa Organics, A Stevenson Ranch, Ca. company that markets aromatherapy and diffusers for the relief of stress and anxiety, recognizes the value of a calm and soothing environment.
They were so impressed with our natural forest stream environment after a recent visit to A Unique Dental Experience, that they asked to do their product photo shoot here. Not only was it an ideal setting to highlight aromatherapy for dental offices, it was fun for our patients and us to watch them set up the shots and lighting.
I wish that the screen was "scratch and sniff," because it smells so delightful. The scent that we have chosen for our office is suitably named,"Forest Sunrise."
